Five Things: Love Lost
Each Friday, I'll share five seemingly random things inspired by a category. We'll kick it off with "Love Lost".

I'm kicking off a new weekly post, based on the improv exercise 5 Things*. At the start of each week, I'll get a category suggestion and on Friday share five seemingly random thoughts, quotes, links, musings, whatever comes to mind that I encountered during the week, inspired by that suggestion.
This week's Five Things: Love Lost
1) When no one expects you to excel during a rebuilding year, and you end up this close to the ultimate goal but are unsuccessful, were you a winner or a loser? I think we know the answer to that. Go Bills!
2) Bills Mafia, love in action.
3) “Everything's got to end sometime. Otherwise nothing would ever get started.”
Dr. Who, “A Christmas Carol”
4) When you pare down the tangible, you’re left with more room for the intangible.
5) I wish I could write a letter to the families (yes, families, plural) who surrendered, adopted, and re-surrendered Beau to the shelter. I'd ask, “What on earth were you thinking?” And then I’d add, “Thank you, because I won the dog lottery.”

* In the improv exercise 5 Things, a player is given a category and, without thinking too much about it, has to say out loud five things in that category while the group cheers them on. No explanations, no self-editing, no worries if the things make sense or connect to each other. In that process, unconscious associations are made and things rise to the surface that might otherwise have been buried. It’s a great way to warm up your brain and inspire creative thinking. These weekly posts are less spontaneous than the in-person game, because I’m thinking all week about the category, but the process still offers an opportunity for my unconscious offer my conscious food for thought as it nudges me to be more aware of life as it's happening around me.
In the comments, feel free to share your five things inspired by the category “Love Lost”, or suggest a category for next week.
The category for the week of Feb 2nd's 5 Things is inspired by Fred Rogers' quote in this interview:
"If you look for the helpers, you'll know that there's hope."

Take some time this week to ponder anything about that quote that resonates with you. On Friday, we'll share five things that stood out as we went about our daily lives.
